Waiter There's Something In My...

Tapas is the theme for this months Waiter event.

Ingredients-wise we are talking of all things Spanish - beans, morcilla, seafood, olives, herbs, chorizo, rice, saffron, and olive oil in abundance. Freshness being the key. Of course tapas, being tapas, one dish is never enough! Your recipes please then, by the end of the month if you could be so kind.

I invite you to create a dish that is either a bistro classic or should really be one - simple, hearty and bursting with flavour. It can be meaty, fishy, vegetarian or a dessert, something you've eaten in a gastropub recently or maybe something chosen out of these wonderful books.

Remember the 1970s? The flares, the platform heels, the car keys in a bowl?

To be honest I havent a clue what I'm going to make for this round of Waiter. An implusive choice of theme based soley on a tiny tin of pineapple pieces in the cupboard with little thought on what to make.

Still the theme is in place. Pineapple.

A drink perhaps, a cocktail. Maybe a savoury dish or, as is my want, something sweet and dessert like.

Our theme for February will be "hot puds" (pud being short for pudding, signifying "dessert" in Britain). Anything goes, as long a it's sweet and served hot. Crèpes Suzette, self-saucing puddings, sweet dumplings, fruit fritters, you can be as creative as you like.

How do you fancy a vegetable crumble? A Chilled Fruit Soup? A Savoury Bread and Butter Pudding?

We're (that's co-hosts Cook Sister!, SpittoonExtra and myself) taking a bit of a summer break as well, giving you some well-deserved rest, and only ask for your submissions well into the month of August...

It falls back to me to host the ever popular Waiter There's Something In My... event this month. I thought dried fruit and nuts would make a good theme and get all those imaginative bloggers scurrying to their kitchens.
